trouble sleeping
Hi! I haven't posted before but was wandering if anyone had trouble sleeping all the way through the nidht? I told my DR. She gave sleeping pills but I'm nervous taking too many. My date is 1/10/05 and very nervous. I never had major surgery before. Any advise is good Thankyou!

trouble sleeping

It's pretty common. The worst thing to do is lay in bed wide awake. Get up, and maybe make lists of things you need/want to get done. Sometimes the mind just has so much going on that listing helps. Or do housework that won't disturb the rest of the household, watch TV, read a book.
Best wishes.

I can send you some great regulatory manuals to read -- that ought to do the trick
Seriously -- the reading idea is good, as is TV. Or if you knit or crochet, go for it! As long as you're awake, you may as well do something productive. And I love soaking my feet -- it's very relaxing.
Also, although this sounds obvious, try to cut out caffeine after, say, noon in the day. Caffeine is a huge sleep culprit in my life, at least.
Hope this helps!

I have been having a hard time sleeping also. My Dr. gave me some ambien to try. It has been a life saver. I don't wake up feeling drugged or anything, still get up at my regular time with no problems. My surgery is on the 12th and I am going into spaz mode, so the pills really help. I am the type of person that I can handle just about anything as long as im well rested. If not then everything bothers me. I don't plan on taking the pills after the surgery, but for now they help.

Don't feel too badly. Mine isn't until Jan 19 and I'm already not sleeping. May need to take something too.
