TVH - Kudos & Tips

Thanks to all for the wonderful advice and support I've received here.

Kudos for the following tips:

Ear plugs - not needed the first night, should have used the second, and would have if I stayed a third. Great for that afternoon nap too.

Record when you take your meds - I've been prescribed 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. Keeping track on paper means it's one less thing to try to remember, but also, if I need one after 3 hours, I can determine what I did that I shouldn't have.

A few tips of my own:

Benefiber really doesn't have any taste, grit or get thick. I'll let you know how well it works at keeping me regular.

Making an egg and toast, at 4 days post-op, takes more out of you than you think it would.

Read the info sheet you receive from the pharmacy with your meds. Did you know that many pain medicines can cause constipation. Just what we need, another reason to worry about that department.

Even without abdominal incision, you get swelly belly. Wear a large shirt over your pants so if you can't button or zip them, no one will know.

Use a 5-gallon bucket in the shower to sit on while shaving your legs.

There is never a reason NOT to have chocolate!! :

emmy, I love chocolate, but it constipates me so I have to be careful. I strained too hard having a bm in the early weeks of recovery and lost a permanent stitch in my vaginal cuff so be careful all you TVH and repair ladies.
