Suffering from the dreaded Over-Did-It-itis
Hi all,
I'm three weeks and one day post-op today, and am finally feeling more like myself, save for the afternoon fatigue (which Is also starting to subside).
With the warmer weather combined with reaching the three-week mark, I completely overdid it today by a mile and am now utterly exhausted and sore.
I gardened! I ran errands! I drove for the first time since surgery! I showered! I did laundry! I cleaned the kids' closets! I cleaned the cat box! I made dinner! I put away the winter boots and coats! And after each thing I'd say, "I'll just do x then rest", but I never stopped. I've just been so bored and house-bound and feeling so useless!
It's supposed to rain here tomorrow so that will force me to rest.
Hoping everyone is feeling a tiny bit more like themselves everyday.

I over did it too! I have been so careful but today was such a pretty day and my friend was coming over this morning to set flowers out around my porch for me. It's a huge porch that hasn't been cleaned since last fall. So I got out early this morning and sprayed down my porch and bleached the wicker furniture. I didn't lift a lot but I was bending and squatting. I'm exhausted and achy...and for the first time since surgery I have had a little spotting. It's kind of scary, hope i didnt hurt myself.I do go for my follow up appointment with my surgeon tomorrow so I am sure he will check me out.

I am at my 4 weeks mark, and because I got upset with my family yesterday I decided I would do things around the house myself and I am also paying for it. Did not do nearly what you have done. You might want to slow down and lay around for the next few days.

Just because you feel better doesn't mean you are finished healing inside. You still have to take it easy. Don't dive head first into chores that need doing. Do a litte each day and gradually build up your stamina. Remember....Slow and steady wins the race

Re: Suffering from the dreaded Over-Did-It-itis
Ooh ladies, be careful. I had a friends mom not follow directions following her hysterectomy a year ago and she is still dealing with complications. Take this time for yourselves. I've been told you only get one chance to heal right. Take that time. You ALL deserve it! None of us want complications! All those chores will wait! Sit back, put your feet up, relax and take care of yourselves.
