4 weeks post hysterectomy, regret going back to work

I went back to work on Monday and worked 32 hours. I felt fine the first day or two, but now it's Saturday and I'm exhausted, like I could literally sleep the entire day away. I would've taken more time off of work, but with bills, rent and my fiancé on workman's comp it wasn't an option. All I wanna do is cry right now. Has anyone felt the same way I do now?

Re: 4 weeks post op, regret going back to work

Don't worry, rest up and it will probably improve next week, and more and more day by day. You just need to build your stamina back up and you will feel better before you know it!

I'm 4 wks post op. LAVH. Not back at work but I'm a teacher running an overseas trip when I go back in a couple weeks so have worked from home towards that and run a parent meeting at school. Even doing those things has worn me out. I can't believe the tiredness. Being back full time would do me in for sure! Maybe mini naps or time out times at work if you can? I keep reading that we need to listen to our bodies. Good luck with it all!

Re: 4 weeks post hysterectomy, regret going back to work

Buqb is right, try to rest a bit during the work day, if you can. My job requires a fair amount of standing, so I was lucky that my co-workers had ignored six weeks of paperwork so there was lots of desk work for me to do my first full week back. Maybe tell your boss that you might need a little more break time than usual for a few weeks. Unfortunately the fatigue can last a long time. I started back swimming at six weeks and I still didn't feel like I was moving at a normal pace until about 3 months out. Take good care, what you are feeling is normal.
