Post Surgery Hemotomia
I had my surgery two weeks ago tomorrow. I was the ideal patient in the hospital. I was up and had a bath the second day and started walking to the nursery every two to three hours ( a good walking distance). I ate good, took meds as needed and felt mostly good, just tired, so I rested. My Doctor sent a note home to my husband that for two days I was to stay in my room, selfcare to bathroom and dining table only, then for the next two weeks, no housework only self care bathing and eating, no driving for three weeks and no intercourse, housework, exercise or lifting over ten pounds for six weeks. We both laughed at the note, but did follow the instructions. My bladder was adhered to the uterus and did require a couple of stitches. When my bladder was full I had back pain and spasms, when my bladder emptied during urination, I felt a drawing up sensation. It continued to get more and more painful, but tolerable. I called my doctors office at the one week mark asking for more pain meds, after telling them what was going on, they sent me to get a urinalysis. It came back fine. That same evening I began to get pressure in the front and back, I felt like something (a baby) was going to fall out. It hurt to walk, to sit up was almost unbearable. I called the doctor Tuesday morning and they admitted me back into the hospital. They did a CT scan and saw a small hemotomia(A small pool of blood). behind my bladder. I was immediately started on mega dose of IV antibiotics. My white bllod count was elevated also. I had shots of Nubain, Toridal, Vicodin pills and urispas to help controll the pain (like contractions). I stayed in the hospital from Tuesday until Saturday. The doctor ordered another CT scan and there is no change. I am home for now with more antibiotics and weak legs. I am told that in time the hemotomia will absorb. If the pain gets worse, or I get a fever, I think that they will open my back up If you experience these symptoms, please seek medical attention and be patient during the process. Rest, Rest, Rest and take care of yuorself.

((( lvbeetle ))) I'm so sorry that you're having so many problems and dealing with all that pain. You keep on being a good and follow your dr's orders. I'll be praying that it all gets better soon. I've never had a hematoma but I understand that they can take quite a while to resolve.
What part of Beaumont do you live in? My DH and I have a house in the historical district that we're renovating and hope to sell soon. My DD lived there while she was in grad school at Lamar. I love Beaumont, grew up in Groves and so I know the area well.
Best wishes.

Hey All,
Thanks for the Hugs and well wishes. I am feeling better everyday. I still have some bladder spasms, but the rest seems good. Tomorrow is 3 weeks! I feel like I lost time????

I'm so glad you're feeling better. I'm dealing with a hematoma (actually, they think it might be two of them) and I'm 7 months out. I know, I know -- I'm a true problem child ..... No fun at all.

I too have a hematoma - about 2 pints worth of blood. I had internal bleeding (i have a blood disorder that we are working on identifing (sp?)...) anyway I had one before too and it did reobsorb and didnt take too long and I am hoping this one will be quick too. I had 2 blood transfusions and suffered from Septic pelvic thrombophelbitis (rare and usually only gotten after child birth.... I tell docs I am a case study waiting to happen ...) The pain for me from the hematoma isnt too bad, just uncomfortable. Good luck to you!
