Having LAVH soon

Hello All!

I am 35 years old and have had painful periods with abnormal bleeding for as long as I can remember. They have gotten progressively worse over the past several years. I have tried everything from BCP to Lupron. Lupron helped only when it was in my system; as soon as it was gone, the bleeding returned.

Doc gave me the option of Novasure, and it seems like a great thing, but I just kept seeing that caveat in the brochure "MAY NOT WORK"! UGH! :confuse: So my doctor agreed that the LAVH is the best way for me to go. The only concern is that with three prior abdominal surgeries, there may be too much scarring to conitnue with the lap once the procedure is started. My doctor is quite good however and I have faith that she will do her best!

I love this website! It is so easy to find erroneous, as well as out of date, information on the internet that it is great to be able to get the real scoop from real ladies who have, or are, going through the same thing!

Welcome to Hystersisters, I'm new here too (just found this site a couple of days ago), am the same age as you and having my surgery next week.

I've had a TON of surgeries over the years for my endo, and my doc never mentioned too much scar tissue to procede laproscopically. I'm hoping I don't wake up to any surprises and am hoping the same for you!

Mrs. B,

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I noticed that you're from Aiea. I'm from Kaneohe. I had a LAVH BSO last May because of painful and heavy periods. I am glad that I no longer suffer with the painful and heavy periods. Are you leaving your ovaries in?

This website is great with a lot of helpful information.

3437bbs,

Thank you for the well wishes! It's nice to meet you! Are you at the Marine Corps Base? Did you have your procedure at TAMC? I will be (hopefully) keeping both ovaries.

I really like this site, so much helpful information!

I'm glad your surgery went well and that you are feeling much better! I know I'm looking forward to it!

Mrs. B,

It's nice meeting you too!! No I'm not at the Marine Base. I had my procedure at Kapiolani Medical Center. Checked in at 5:30 am, and left that same evening. Looking back, maybe I should have kept my ovaries. Surgical menopause is no fun. Take care and hope you'll you be able to have your hysterectomy done laparascopically.
