entertaining younger children???

Well, I am ten days post op and my hubby goes back to work on Monday. My post op appt. is on Tues and he will take off to take me to the appt but I am not sure what I will be released for.

I have a 5 year old son home and a 12 year old daughter who goes to school all day. The driving is covered by friends and I am trying to set up a few play dates for my son, but I am wondering how we are going to manage when I am wore out in the afternoons and he is ready to keep going. I am planning to read, watch movies, sit outside while he jumps on the trampoline ect but is anyone else doing this? Have any advice? I am a little nervous. I am healing really well so far and want to keep it that way.

Advice?

entertaining younger children???

My 2 are about the same age, 4 and 11. They knew to becareful around me and my belly, when my ds asks to play with him and I am wore out I tell him my ouchy is really bothering me and if I he wants to watch a movie while I rest a bit then maybe we can play later. So far he seems to be ok with that, but I am 5weeks now and doing a lot more. He helped me to rake a small square of leaves the other day and we both decided we were tired, so he played with his cars and I watched from the couch. You will be ok, good luck. And remember I think our kids are more aware of our ouchy then we think. Also ask for help if you can.

I have a 4 yr old dd. I bought 2 bed trays (so she can be like mommy) and she uses hers for doing puzzles or coloring and she is more than content to sit in bed with me for quite awhile. Crayola makes mess free markers and finger paints so you wont have to worry about messing up your comforter. Good luck!!

Quilt!!!

Seriously.....bring out some old, unwanted fabric and let the 5 yr old dive into it and cut out shapes, use a gluestick to glue the shapes onto a base (paper?) and make his own "quilt". Or precut shapes with your rotary cutter and he can just do the gluing.

Some play- doh is also another thing to occupy them.I have some cutters and let my 4 1/2 year old DS play with that.Coloring books and crayons are life savers.Maybe a magna doodle?
I like the idea of getting out material and letting them play quilt makers.I LOVE making quilts, so it would go to say they may also like it.
If you have to, ask the older child to help entertain the younger one.My older kids, keep the younger one busy. (14 1/2 DD, 11 1/2 DS and 7 1/2 DS keep the 4 1/2 DS busy)
Good luck!!!!

entertaining younger children???

Hi,
I just got back today from SAH. I am alone now, with my 6 year old. I'm not sure what we are going to do, how I will keep him occupied. I have friends coming over to help out on some days - other than that, we are on our own! My son goes to full day kindergarten, so weekdays he will be home by 3pm (I've arranged all his rides for him for 2 weeks).

I know for my son, video games keep him occupied. I've got a couple of new video games, and a new hot wheels track... hopefully, that will do the trick for a while.

best of luck,

I really feel lucky now. My in-laws are coming down for 3 weeks to help with the kids and the house while DH is at work.
