2 Weeks Post Op Question

I am almost 2 weeks post op and doing quite well. My biggest problem is what I think is swelly belly and some minor pain at the protruding part of my stomach. I think this is because of healing inside but want to be sure. I know from reading this site that swelly belly hits off and on and effects people differently but sometimes my stomach gets quite hard. It doesn't really hurt that much but is more annoying than anything. Also I haven't been sleeping very well which I think is because I used to working and being busy. Would love to hear from others before me who have experienced this or something similiar. I had a TAH with both ovaries and tubes removed. So far I haven't experienced too many hormonal issues but wonder if that happens down the road. Any comments are appreciated!

2 Weeks Post Op Question

I had swelly belly postop. Mine encompassed the entire belly, not just one spot, though. How big, and where, is the "protruding" part of your belly? Next time it protrudes, place your hand on the spot and cough..........If it protrudes sharply with the cough, or can be pushed in and disappear if you push it in with your hand, then your doc definitely needs to know.

You probably are just experiencing the infamous swelly belly. Even so, it is always beneficial to have wide open lines of communication with your surgeon. It would be a good idea to explore the potential need for hrt with a physician, so that you can have a game plan in place, in case the time comes that you might consider using hormones, too.

Here's an article I found to be very helpful for insomnia:

Hope this helps. Take care, Princess.................s....Deb

2 Weeks Post Op Question

Hi there. I am almost 3 weeks post op and my turning point came at 2 weeks 3 days post op. Initially I requested hormones- prempro. But, I still was cold during the day and hot at night with night sweats. I also took myself off of morphine pretty quickly (3 days) and was crawling out of my skin. I now use ultram for pain (non narcotic). Doc also gave me Trazadone for sleep and all the above put me back into my skin. I hope you feel better soon.
