TAH with cystocele (I can't spell!!)

I have been waiting since November for my TAH along with removal of ovaries, tubes, and since I also have vaginal prolapse, they are going to staple my vagina to the lower part of my spine. Has anyone out there had this yet? What can I expect as far as pain, what should I watch out for? How careful do I have to take it? Are the precautions the same as for a hysterectomy alone, or are there additions? I'm just flying blind here!! I adore my doctor, but her staff is less than helpful. I'm also confused because my doctor hasn't seen the need for a pre-op visit, unless my visit in November was it. Does this seem unusual to anyone?? I'm starting to get a case of the heebee-jeebies. My surgery is 5/1/01.

I would definitely make an appointment with the doctor to get all those questions answered. One of the sisters here says she mails her questions in ahead of time so the doctor can be prepared to give thoughtful answers.

And I would bring a big bag of candy to the appointment to bribe the unhelpful staff. These are the people who are going to be answering the phone after your surgery if you need more pain medication or have some spotting or need your hormones adjusted. You need them to be helpful to you.
