Yes to the Epidural

Well, I talked to anesthesiology today and they gave me thumbs up on getting an epidural in addition to general anesthesia. Im really excited. I will get to keep the epidural for the 1st 24 hours. So I will not have pain....that was my biggest fear. I have never had an epidural, so I am a little nervous about that, but I will take it! I was to the point I was going to cncel...I didn't want ot be a princess and I didn't want to go to the castle! lol But my nerves are calming a little now since I heard this. They are going to use the same dosage as a woman having a c section, so I should be totally numb. They said by late evening they will cut it down a bit, so I will still be blocked from pain but will be able to get up and walk also, my legs may just feel extra heavy. Has anyone else had this and how did it work for you? Only good stories please...lol Just kidding (I think)

Re: Yes to the Epidural

I had an epidural with my general anesthetic, and I would do that again in a heart beat! It was suggested by my anesthesiologist. She told me she could give me less anesthetic that way, and I would wake up quicker. I thought that was a great idea.

It was also good getting the pain meds through the tubing. I did not have to worry about orals that way.

My epidural was left in for about 18 hours or so.

Good luck...

((Hugs)))
