Just home from LAVH/BSO

Just wanted to let you all know I made it through!! All of the Dr.'s said surgery went extremely well and they were planning on sending me home after 1st night, my bladder didn't quite cooperate and I had to spend 2nd night but I am home now and with the pain meds already feel better than when I went in. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was the horrible back pain coming out of surgery, that could have been due to the extended amount of time in a weird position because of the labia reconstruction that was done that day too though. Anyway, all is well and my doc says he will see me in a week and may even release me in 2 weeks to do whatever I want - including karate!! I am so excited (although I am sure I will still have lifting restrictions and will definately need to take it slow in class!!)

Thanks to everyone who gave me support and hugs, good luck to all going in yet, it wasn't near as bad as I had it built up in my mind!!

Hugs,
Aimee

Well glad to hear all went well. Let me tell ya just because he may release you doesnt mean you will be ready. Please take your time to heal. I had a LAVHRSO done on 4-13 and i thought the same well it didnt happen that way . I am at 9 weeks and its like i never had it done but rest rest rest. Yes i too was sore from them hoisting you in the air i thinki t was the worst part . Take it day by day cause you will have some rough ones. I thought i was invinsible never had any other problems with other surgeries i had well this one is different. So take care and rest ! ( i sound like a mom )....lol

The mind does seem to like to pull things on you when you go through things like this. It wanders and makes it appear worse than it is.

Glad to hear your home and doing well...

It's good to hear that surgery went well and you are doing fine. I am always leery of doctors that say they will release you in 2 weeks. The best person to judge what your limitations are is yourself. Take it easy--you won't get a second chance to heal. I had a LAVH/BSO at the end of December, and, no way, would I have been able to do a lot of things after just 2 weeks!

Please listen to your body! Take it slow and easy! Good luck to you!
