Uterus adhered to bladder
I'm scheduled to have a tah on March 18th. I've had endometriosis and blood cysts on my ovaries since I was a teenager, and it's become so severe I've finally relented to have the hysterectomy. I've had plenty of surgeries in the past, but I'm still quite nervous about encountering complications, especially since everything is coming out. The one area I'm curious about that I haven't read anything on is the fact that my uterus is completely adhered to my bladder. I wish I would have talked to my dr more about that issue. Has anyone else had that same issue, and has the repair to the bladder caused any additional problems?
Thank you to all of you strong women for your support!

Uterus adhered to bladder
Hi!
My uterus was also very adhered to the bladder. There wasn't any actual repair needed, but it took an additional hour in surgery to separate the two organs. I think that's what normally happens. There shouldn't be a need for more repair just because of the adhered organs, unless something else happens during surgery -- which is always a possibility.
The fact that the two organs were stuck together helped explain all of the bladder urgency I had been feeling.
I didn't notice any additional issues with healing, except for the first couple of weeks it felt really strange to urinate. No pain, just an odd feeling. Eventually things did get back to normal.
Hope this helps.

Uterus adhered to bladder
Kristen, don't let that worry you... it happens quite often with bladder and bowels.. my bowels were adhered to my uterus, and so was my bladder, they had to do some little repair to my bladder, no worse recovery, just a strange sensation when i start and stop urinating... it will pass... I also had 2 very large fibroids, and my uterus had to be cut into 5 pieces to get it out it was so large... i had been bleeding for 20 - 25 days a month with severe back pain... even recovering is less pain than I had been in... You will feel much better after you heal. chinup my friend! better days are coming

Thanks for your quick response. I do feel better about it now. I do wonder how it will feel to urinate without pain! I'll look forward to that!

Uterus adhered to bladder
Thank you ladies! I feel like the waiting is the worst part! I just wish the surgery was over with! I'm never not aware of my uterus - there's always some kind of discomfort in my abdomen. If I only have discomfort, that is a good day!

kashmmi, yes waiting is the worst.... and the discomfort while you are in the hospital for mw was so controlled by a pain pump, that I slept on my stomach the very first night.... no pain at all while in hospital... and only took pain med for 2 days after I got home, then just used ibuprofen... that's how much pain relief I had after surgery.. i'm hopoing the same for you! I"ll keep you in my prayers for the 18th.

Uterus adhered to bladder
My bladder and uterus were also adhered, due to a c-section I had over five years ago. I had noticed, especially in the past year, that I was having to go to the bathroom more frequently and having some issues with incontinence. It took my surgeon a while to carefully dissect my bladder and uterus, so I was in surgery longer because of it. My doc also told me I would be going home with a catheter for two to three weeks to give my bladder time to rest and recover from the surgery. However, a little over a week out from my hyst he had the catheter removed and I was able to go, I had to 'force' it, in fact, for the first few weeks I had to go every few hours and basically force it, but now four weeks out and my bladder is functioning better and better, even more so than before the surgery! So it may take a while for your bladder to recover from the procedure, but it is well worth it if you've been having any problems with it pre-surgery. Best of luck to you, hope your surgery goes well and you have an easy recovery!

Uterus adhered to bladder
My ovary, bowel, bladder and top of my vagina were all glued together but my brilliant surgeon managed to sort me out.
Only real problem that i had after surgery was an irritable bladder, getting up several times a night to go to the loo and feeling that I needed to go all the time but this didn't last long fortunately.
Hope all goes well for you.

Uterus adhered to bladder
My bladder and uterus were glued together too. It also took my doctor an extra hour to seperate the two. The only problem I had post op was also very irritable and several UTIs.

Uterus adhered to bladder
My bladder was like that, too. I had a LAVH on March 3rd, and my bladder was very spasm-y and it felt weird to urinate- not pain exactly, but wouldn't empty all the way until just two days ago. I think that the bladder/uterus adhesion is very common and they are used to dealing with that. Ask lots of questions, and try not to worry. I KNOW that's easier said than done, but you will be great!
