tired of crying

I am 31 and scheduled to have a full hysterectomy on the 18th of this month. I am so tired of people telling me how "sorry" they are because I don't have any children. They act as if I'm choosing to have this done and not that I have no choice.
It seems like my emotions are all over the place. One minute I'm happy and next I'm crying. I am so ready to have all of the pain gone!

msemidl: I am a new person without that PAIN. Your emotions are normal and the fact that you don't have any children shouldn't stop your life. I have 2 children and three grandchildren, but I get just as much enjoyment with the Big Sister program I am involved with. I live in Colorado and my family is in Florida, so I became a Big Sister. I am looking forward to your posts after your surgery. I know this heavy feeling will be LIFTED...good luck

Sending you a big . Be strong, and keep a positive mental attitude, and try to find something to laugh about, that will help get you through a lot. When you get to the other side and feel better you will know it was worth it. I will say a for you.

So sorry you are getting the reaction you are. I too have no children and have surgery scheduled on May 18th. When people became aware of my upcoming surgery i did get some of the same response and found myself in the role of consoling them that it was really okay.

How arrogant of them to think that this surgery would only bring about loss. I can't wait to see the person I will be without the pain, exhaustion and frustration.

wishing you happy, positive thoughts and interactions from here on out!

It saddens me to think that you are going thru these emotions. It seems like a normal process...but others comments are not helping one bit. IT is an emotional process for all of us sisters and many people jsut dont understand. IN my case it seemed as if no one cared. Like I was jsut going in to have some teeth removed. IT was a big deal to me and my husband and especially to me. I do have children and am in my early 40s. IT also never seemed a choice....no one ever really seemed to understand the stuggles I had gynecologically...and what it stole from my life. I am rambling now.

This journey through hysterectomy can be hard for others to understand unless they've gone through it themselves. While people usually mean well, I think sometimes they don't know what to say or don't realize how what they do say may effect you.

If you haven't found it already, there is also a special forum here at Hystersisters called
Aching Hearts that provides additional support for women who are dealing with the emotions and sense of loss relating to their hysterectomies.

Be gentle with yourself during this time and know that there are many here who do understand.
