dVH/RALH: Upcoming daVinci hysterectomy: two IVs?

I've read a few things that say DaVinci means 2 IVs.

Was that true for you?

I only had one.

I was told I will probably have two IVs in case they need to move the robot. Aapparently sometimes it is more convenient to have the IV on one side, and sometimes on the other. I do know people who have had daVinci that only had one,and some who have had two.

I had a Da Vinci for another procedure and there were two IV's. But only one was put in while I was awake. The anesthesiologist told me there would be a second one but otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. The second one was removed before I woke up.

I had two. They told me that the 2nd one wouldn't go in until I was asleep. It was only put in because, for this surgery, one or both hands are strapped down at your sides for certain parts of the surgery. They like to have a 2nd iv for easy access in case they have to give a medication during the procedure. Having an extra one is a lot easier for them than it would be to pause surgery, unstrap your arm, and lose time.

It was taken out the night after surgery, just a few hours later.

I had two IV's but have no idea whether it was due to the type of surgery (davinci) or not. They do put you in various positions during different stages of the surgery, so it makes sense that they might want that flexibility.

I had DaVinci surgery and only had one IV.

I had 2 IV's put in right before surgery. I totally forgot the reason she told me though!

I had two, one in the back of my left hand and one in the bend of my right elbow. they were both put in before surgery. They said they needed two cuz of the way the robot arms worked that it was easier to switch it from one arm to the other to get it out of the way.
