Dazed
I am a 31 year old, 7 days post op. The physical pain is tolerable now, except for one really sore spot on the lower left side. I had no idea about the dreams, the sadness, and the general lack of desire to see or talk to anyone. Why do people say such dumb things? Do they not understand how references to not having to use birth control and no more bleeding are not even on my radar screen;considering what I've just been through? I found this site tonight by chance, maybe someone here will be young like I am and be able to relate.

Welcome to the sisters Blindsided. As you read through the posts here you'll find all kinds of good information and support.
Yes, I think alot of times people don't think before they speak. There's a very good thread on here about just that!
Just remember to take these early recovery days one at a time and it'll get better.

What kind of surgery did you have?
This site is amazing, the women are so supportive!
I'm 29, had a total vaginal hysterectomy, kept ovaries, waiting for them to start working again. The mood swings are mind blowing, I was not expecting either.
I hope you can find some help here, if you look in the past threads you will find quite a few focusing on the younger women.

dear blindsided, welcome to the Sisterhood!
the dreams, sadness loneliness -- and thinking all people are unfeeling morons is actually pretty standard (and by that of course I mean it is exactly what i have gone through!)
please know that you have reached a place where everyone understands and is here for each other, so you are not alone! (unless you want to be!)

Blindsided,
I know what you mean- I think- about the dreams. I am having the most freaky, bizzare, and scary dreams that I have ever had. Is that what you mean? It makes me not want to go to sleep.
People say DUMB things. I personally am sick of people making me feel like a big baby because I am not "over it". I asked my mother to run an errand for me last week because I am not allowed to drive yet, and she said that was ridiculous and the doctor was just "covering himself". She told me I could do whatever I wanted. She also told me that the pain pills were making me goofy. I have been off pain pills for the last week. I only took then the first week. She thinks I'm addicted!
We are here for you. When things get rough, listen to your "sisters". We understand.

Hey, blindsided, as you can see I'm 33 and had surgery on June 27th. If you wanna talk or vent or just tell us about your day you have come to a great place for support and advice. Keep posting, I wouldn't have made it through this surgery ( pre-op and post-op) without all the wonderful and caring women on this site. We're here for you and some of us are going through what you are and some have all been through it all. Keep posting and we'll help where we can. Take it easy.

I thought I was going nuts, with feeling sad and depressed, not sleeping, low appetite. Then I read the posts here and realized my symptoms were very common. Keep reading here and you'll feel better, I'll bet!

Hi Blindsided-
You found the perfect spot!! I'm also 31 and had a TAH on 6/27/07. They took my uterus and cervix, but left my ovaries (which aren't working right now!!) You are definitely not alone in your feelings, what you said has been said by LOTS of people in the last 2 weeks. Take a look at some of the posts - and ask ANY question that comes up! There's more support here than you can imagine - and everyone knows what you're going through. Hang in there, it will get easier.

Hi Blindsided and welcome: I am going to echo what everyone else has said...come here often. This site has been my savior for the past couple of months!!! I am 36 and am an emotional wreck over everything. I am also one who kept her ovaries, but they are in dreamland right now. Come back often and you will find there is usually someone on this site 24/7. Take care and sending your way!!!
