Stairs

I have 16 stairs in my house and was just wondering if I will be able to walk up them when I get home from the hospital or should I plan to use the downstairs spare bedroom as my room for a few days? I really would rather be upstairs if you all think I'll be able to walk up them. THanks

Re: Stairs

Use the downstairs bedroom. Personally, stairs were awful for me.

Re: Stairs

Hi Serenity3459!!

Check with your Dr (it will likely be part of Discharge Instructions). My Dr would not let me do stairs for a week after I got home and just once up and once down per day for the following week.

The downstairs bedroom sounds like a good idea for a while anyway. Or if you can get up the stairs when you get home, you may want to stay there for a few days.

Good luck with your surgery and recovery!!

Hugs,
Suzanne

Re: Stairs

We have 2 flights and I used them immediately from coming home and didn't think about it but it would be horrible if you tripped or something. Being prepared is a great idea. If I had it to do again I would use the downstairs. Nothing ever happened to me but the thought of being hurt when you are already in pain would be so awful especially if it can be prevented.

Re: Stairs

I was able to do stairs as soon as I got home, it just took me a little longer than normal . I was allowed to go up and down one time a day for the first week.

Re: Stairs

I was SAH, too, and I took the stairs up to my bedroom straight from the hospital. I didn't have any stair restrictions, and I had no trouble with them. I went slow the first couple of days as precaution, but the stairs were really no trouble.

Re: Stairs

Thank you all for your replies. I love this website and am so grateful for this support group. I received my princess package that I had ordered from the store and love the crown. Am already wearing the shirt and crown so my husband can get a head start!
