Post menopause, ovaries out, warm flushes

Hello Hyster Sisters,
I had my hyster about 17 days ago (TLH), and since then have been having some warm flushes. I went through menopause 5 years ago, and certainly have not had any hot ( or warm flushes) for years.
Have others noticed, even though you are past menopause, that you have been getting, or have got, menopause symptoms since your total hysterectomy?

Yes, what a surprise. And not just hot flashes. Mine didn't improve and the brain fog and insomnia were bad. Maybe your symptoms will be mild or go away, it's possible. If I'd known I'd have such issues I'd have re thought removing the ovaries, but I was told I'd see no difference. I guess those ovaries still did something after all.

Re: Post menopause, ovaries out, warm flushes

I haven't had hot flashes or flushes, thank heavens. The menopause symptom that I notice the most is having trouble sleeping through the night. My surgeon asked me to stop my HRT a week before my surgery, but after seeing him a week ago I am taking my estrogen again in hopes that it will help.

Good luck!

I was told, too, that I would see no difference with removing the ovaries. The surgeon said something like "they are not doing anything anymore, so they might as well go"! It would have been nice if they would explain that ovaries still do "something", even if not nearly as much as before menopause.

Having read more now, because of the possibility of endometrial cancer, I probably didn't have a choice about keeping my ovaries.

I was just surprised having some mild menopause symptoms. I certainly did not expect it.

Thanks Sistas for your replies
