10 days post hysterectomy - bulge @ entrance to vagina

Worried! Had full daVinci hysterectomy on the 18th, along with rectocele repair, bladder suspension (cow skin) - etc. have generally felt very good; nothing but Advil and Tylenol since leaving Recovery Room. Home on Day 2 with catheter which was removed Day 4. Slow bladder with lots of trickling but that has been improving Days 7-9. Itching at vaginal opening Days 6-10. Today, a bit back to the trickling. PA said to use a little antibacterial cream at opening to vagina. In doing so, I noticed what seems like a bulge at the vaginal opening again, which seems to be just like the rectocele prior to the surgery! I have not lifted or overdone, although I have been fairly mobile here at home. Someone please tell me there is a possibility this is normal and that it's not necessarily that I have undone anything.

Re: 10 days post op - bulge @ entrance to vagina

It is completely possible it's normal. I didn't have any of those repairs, but my vagina and labia, both, were swollen and tender for weeks post op. Rest, ice, an anti-inflammatory and time are your best friends.

Hang in there!

Thank you Mindy Lee! Can I ask if you also had a stinging sensation at the entrance to the vagina?
