None of the above...FemRing. It's a flexible ring that's inserted in the vagina, releases estrogen slowly over three months then replaced.

I was on Evamist which was a bio Identical spray of estrogen! After almost 8 months post op, it got to bad with the hot flashes, not sleeping and the mood swings that I went and saw my doctor yesterday! I am now on FemHRT and we will see how this goes!

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?
Going back to the posts on the first page of this thread, my doctor is aware that I do not have insurance and always tries to prescribe the least expensive (but still effective) medications for me.
Right now I'm on estradiol 1 mg - which is $4/30 days at most pharmacy chains.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?
I have been in surgical meno since 2008 when my right ovary busted and they had to remove it. About 2005 my left ovary had busted and had that surgery done then. My doctor tried me on a couple different pills, first the combo pill since I still had my uterus had to take estragon and proestragon cant spell sorry its late and just took pain meds. Well, the combo costed about $40.00 a month and didnt work so he switched me to estridial 2 mgand another pill cant remember the name but it was a 5 mg proestragon pill and that worked great. My main problem was depression whuch I have had for years and take something for that and sleep problems and was put on ambien for that. Well, Co pays was aroound 10.00 a month for each med and had to take to so about 6 months ago I tried to do a combo pill again and to same money and be only to take one pill well, three months after starting that pill started to bleed that was femhrt about 30.00 co payment. So, went back to the doctor and he tried another combo pill same price activella 1/5 mg and was still bleeding two months, so was back to the doctor and he said it was the hormones and put me back on the seperate pills and the bleeding slowed down, however, a week later started bleeding so bad I thought I had a water fall going on down there and then the pain started. Well, to make this long story shorter I ended up with a 3.6 cm cyst/mass and had to have surgery 2 days later a TAH on 5-21-10 and been on the estrodial 2 mg since he surgery and no hot flashes or night sweatse , emotions are running high because of all the surgery but things have been great in no hot flashes/sweats at least and the cost at walmart is $4.00 a month for a supply of the estrodiol 2mg and they do have others for that price so , it might be worth asking for something cheaper. If they are no walmarts they are other drug stores that are offering the same as walmart. Do some research and see if that helps with the price I know where you are coming from with money. Im a single mom with no help from his dad and have to save any way I can. Hope this helps. Sorry so long. Please send me a message if you have any questions will try to help any way I can. GOD bless each of you. Take care, Melissa

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?
I am currently taking elleste solo hrt tablets (2mg daily).
I am considering on taking another type with the other hormone because I still have endometriosis even after having a TAH with everything removed and I noticed on the small print that there is a higher risk of Ovarian Cancer involved in connection with Estrogen based only HRT and my mum has only just finished having a course of chemotherapy to treat her OC as it was stage 3 almost stage 4 when it was diagnosed.
And since I am her eldest daughter with bad woman health issues next to hers I am worried that I may develop it at some point too if I carry on with the elleste solo.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?
I just had my hysterectomy 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis and was advised at only 31 years old I would still need HRT. I have not yet started HRT as my doctor told me I needed to wait at least a month to allow any possible remaining endo to die or shrink. The hot flashes, night sweats and mood swings are a roller coaster. I have been torn on the HRT to take. I have heard that the patches are safer than oral tablets because the hormones go directly to the bloodstream. I would rather do a patch. My dr recommended Vivelle Dot for when we start the HRT. Anyone taking the Dot? Dr advised I would not need progesterone because no ovaries, but I noticed people on here seems no ovaries and given progesterone. Getting confused. Suggestions?

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?
I'm five weeks post-TAH/BSO and am on the Vivelle Dot. I have the HysterSisters store to thank for "introducing" me to the Vivelle Dot option via the promotional DVD (and free one month trial coupon) they included with my order! I really appreciated the information and "trying on" the non-medicated "sample dot" they included. It made me ask my doctor to write a prescription for it "by name" so that I wouldn't get the generic. I am having great success with the Vivelle Dot and am soooo pleased with it so far! Thanks, HysterSisters!!
