5+ weeks post hysterectomy: Bed - I Just Awant to Go There

I am now five weeks out from my hysterectomy.

Three nights ago I tried to sleep in my own bed as opposed to the recliner that I've been living in for all those weeks.

I tried laying on my back like in the recliner with pillows supporting my upper back head and beneath my knees. With in 30 minutes I was in a great deal of pain.

How soon did you go back to bed after your surgery?

I also had a hernia repair while they were in there mucking about. That has seem to be my greatest area of problems.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Re: Bed: I Just Awant to Go There

I hung out on the couch in the daytime and slept in my bed from day one. You might ask your Dr for suggestions. I can't imagine sleeping in a recliner all that time. ((((Hugs))))

Re: Bed: I Just Awant to Go There

I started about 4 weeks out but officially at 6 weeks. It was tough as my bed felt so hard compared to the sofa. I slept with pillows everywhere, front, back and sides. It was hard moving as I had to use the headboard to move and get out of bed.
So you are not the only one...

I am the opposite. I stay in my bed and avoid my recliner. That thing is the king of uncomfort to me.

5+ weeks post hysterectomy: Bed - I Just Awant to Go There

I've had the problem of hanging out on the couch and sleeping on the couch. I've tried the bed several times, but I sleep like a baby on the couch. I think that the bed has too much "real estate" verses the couch! I'm going to lower the softness of the bed tonight and pray that it helps!

Re: 5 weeks post hysterectomy: Bed - I Just Awant to Go There

I slept in a single bed for the first week home, as I was scared my husband would knock against me and cause me pain.

Then I moved back to my king bed and wedged myself all round with pillows - this stopped me from rolling onto my back, which I found very uncomfortable.

The only place I've found comfort is in my bed. At this point I'm up walking and doing a few household chores, but become tired easily. Some days I feel like the walls are closing in on me and other days I'm comforted by them.. Ready to be back to my life, as I've always been VERY ACTIVE!!

Re: 5+ weeks post hysterectomy: Bed - I Just Awant to Go There

I am on week two post-op. Up to Sunday night I was sleeping on the sofa. The bed was really too high and too hard. I went back to the bed last night only after I put a folded duvet on top of it for a bit more softness. Took a long time to find a comfortable position.
