Everything going wrong
I have postpartum depression which is unbearable during ovulation or during my period. I take an SNRI which helps a little. During these times I am suicidal. I have to be with someone 24/7. I have thought of a hysterectomy and so has my Dr. The only problem is I've heard it makes depression worse! I'm so lost

Re: Everything going wrong
I have been diagnosed with depression, I found that since I had mentally prepared myself, I only had 2-3 major crying spurts since my hysterectomy.
I have no children, I told myself "what would be the sense of bringing a child into this world if I can't take care of myself?" I am on disability, so my finances are limited.
Since my surgery on April 26, 2013, I have had two deaths in my family, my step mom, two weeks to the day after my surgery and my uncle last November.
I'm just saying that I know what you are dealing with, I would suggest you talk to your family as well as about having the hysterectomy and tell them your anxieties and fears and see if they will help you through it.

Re: Everything going wrong
I was always in pain with my period, first 3-4 days I was always in bed, I had a tendnancy to sleep alot, if I could, those days, I did contribute to my depression, but my depression is a lot better now, I haven't been taking any meds for it

So you had to take an antidepressant before your hysterectomy but not after?

Re: Everything going wrong
I'm sorry you're experiencing this.
Had depression prior to my periods, as I kept my ovaries, I still get PMS symptoms, but they are much milder.
Please note that some andipressants enphazise depression. The one you have might not work for you.
I was on Zoloft for a while and hated being on prescription meds, so quit and did a lot of "mental" work, take vit D and I'm in a much better place now.
Good luck
