OW, I Sneezed. :(

I thought I had it sorted out...feel a sneeze coming, breathe in deeply, keep the chest up and just try to keep it in the upper chest area...but nope, this one killed my tummy.

It took a few minutes for the pain/crampy feeling to subside, but my right side (ovary?) still hurts a bit.

Do you think I damaged anything in there? I hate this...

Ugh - sneezing, coughing and deep belly laughs are definitely the enemies of abdominal surgery! I have sneesed 1/2 a dozen times and yuck!!

Your probably ok but if the pain continues you should call your Dr.

Hugs,

Sneezing sisters!

If you're going to sneeze, cough, laugh, or hiccup, grab a soft pillow and press it right into your incision area. That means ALWAYS having a pillow within arm's reach.

This pillow will be one of your best friends and your true blue ally for your first month. I promise you.

Without it, all of those things (sneeze, laugh, etc.) are going to be very painful. A few times I felt like I tore something inside but didn't.... that was when I wasn't near my pillow.

Repeat after me: P-I-L-L-O-W.

Hugs to you.

I have finally reached the point where I can sneeze pain/cramp free!! If you don't have a pillow handy I find that it helps to use your arms for support, bend forward and brace. I do that and I am OK!!!

I did the same things sneezed and laughed to hard. So when I went to my Dr he prescribed me more meds, and had me on bed rest for a week or two. Pamper yourself!!

OW, I Sneezed. :(

My first sneeze was 27 days post-op!! Yes, I made it that long... had some close calls before 27 days post-op, but the first sneeze just totally came from out of the blue... now warning.

It hurt so bad I ended up taking a Percocit that evening. I had decided that if I still hurt that bad the morning after I'd call my doctor. But, by the morning after, the sharp pain I felt was gone. I, too, had thought I damaged something inside.... but I think I was ok.

Sneezes are the worst... I'm now 5 weeks and 1 day post op (so 36 days post-op) and haven't sneezed since that first one. I'm hoping it's another 27 days till my second! haha.

If you're still in pain in the morning, call your doctor and just check in with him/her.
