Fingers and Toes

I was told not to be wearing any toenail or fingernail polish the day of the surgery. I notice some ladies are getting mani-pedis. Anyone else been told this??

Clear is often ok, but the hospitals generally request no polish so they can see the colour of your nailbeds. It helps judge your oxygen levels. Wait till you are out of surgery for a little spa pampering.

I am having my fingernails & toenails buffed only. I haven't had my pre-op yet but, my last surgery was an emergency surgery and when I came out, someone had actually taken my nail polish off. The pedicure is because I get very bad ingrown nails so I want them as clean as possible before I go in.

I had my pre-op appt yesterday and my surgery is in the morning. My doctor or nurse never said anything to me about not having polish on. They may tell me in the morning when I get to the hopsital. I hope I can keep it on.

My dr. said toenails were ok but not fingernails - they put that little clamp thingy on your finger to monitor oxygen so they don't want any barrier. I got a pedicure, nice pink color, before I went to the castle and had no problems.

Must be diffrent hosp. policy, I know I went in for my Tubal with Black polish on my toes. They did laugh but didnt say anything but I went in for my pre op and was told no polish.

Yes, I was also told no polish....also no jewelry. I actually had to have a couple of rings cut off. For years, I have worn my aunts wedding set on my right hand....she wore a size 4 1/2 ring...so once I forced that puppy on, I KNEW I'd never take if off by myself
