Dreft Soap???

I was released yesterday after having a laproscopic hysterectomy. We were only planning on taking out the uterus but I lost my left ovary and tube too due to endometriosis. Anyway, my doctor said to get some Dreft soap and bathe in it. I said, dreft, the laundry soap??? And he said yes... I find this weird, has anyone else been told to do this? I even left a voicemail message with his office to make sure I heard him right, though my dh was there and he heard it too. Wouldnt taking a bath in laundry soap irritate your hoo-hoo?? I know youre not even really supposed to use bubble bath. So, I got some dreft, but I am waiting to use it until I hear back from them. Weird.

Dreft Soap???

Hi cmw1973
I haven't ever heard of this. My dr allowed me to have baths, but with nothing in the water. Many drs don't allow baths at all. Did he explain what the possible benefits are to doing this? I'm just curious, it does sound a little strange. I'm not familiar with Dreft though. Let us know if you hear back from your dr. You might want to ask a few more questions.

Dreft Soap???

My dr said something about the soap being anti-bacterial. It just seems odd to me to take a bath in laundry detergent? I have called his office and left a message... they are gone Fridays. hopefully someone will call me back today.

Dreft Soap???

My dr called me this morning. I heard him right, and he meant to take a bath in dreft soap. Just enough to make bubbles... so, I will do what he says and smell like dreft. After my nap LOL

This is so strange. Dreft? Wow. Let us know what happens or how it feels. Can I ask, how old is your doctor? I wonder if this is a oldie but goodie thing to do?

Dreft Soap???

Taking a bath in dreft was no different really than a regular bubble bath. It didnt sting or anything. It smelled really good LOL My skin doesnt itch and I dont feel worse or better having done it. My doctor is rather old school... I know he treated my grandma in 1968! But he is good, and knows what he is doing. I've not come across anyone who has heard of this, but it doesnt seem to hurt anything. My doctor says it has antibiotic properties, but who knows. Speaking of that, I have to go take mine.
