Re: overweight and worried

On March 7th, I will be 1 year past Da Vinci total hysterectomy. I am 100 pounds overweight. I had no pain following my surgery. I do have a fairly high pain tolerance, but was amazed. I took a few ibuprofen, but that was all. I did have some discomfort, definitely had fatigue for a while, but I went back to work full time after two weeks. I do computer work, telecommute from home and was at light duty with a very supportive employee, all of which helped immensely.

Pain was my biggest fear going in and my very minimally painful experience was a wonderful surprise. Da Vinci is a wonderful advantage if you can use it.

Re: overweight and worried

I am overwhelmed with the support and kind words, thank you all.

My surgery is to remove a mirena coil that has been inserted through my uterus into my body cavity by mistake,11 years ago. They are not sure if it is touching any other organs so it has to be full open surgery. It has been a very difficult decision to have the surgery. There is nothing wrong with my womb really so it is even more heartbreaking for me to have to undergo this. I also have chronic neutropenia which makes me much more vulnerable to infection because i have little immune system. With that and the rheumatoid arthritis i am not in the best shape (literally)

I am off work at present with the Neutropenia. I was off work for 6 months in 2012 with neutropenic sepsis. I have given 20 years to my company and now they have stopped my pay and my manager is coming to see me next week, the week before my surgery, as if i am not stressed enough. They say it is for support but i know better.

Anyway, you have all brought a tear to my eye and I will let you know how it goes. Thankyou.

overweight and worried

Hey there. Please try not to be too anxious about this, I'm a lady who lives on the larger side of the street & I'm doing ok. I have found I've no appetite post op so the extra reserves might actually come in useful. I'll make a point of thinking about you on the 12th. Bright blessings.
