Gushing discharge ~ is this normal?

I had a TAH and am 4 weeks out and have had no discharge at all until about 5 days ago and it is now clear and gushing. Almost feels like I am peeing my pants. IS this normal?

barrdogg... i had a TLH on 9/23 and have had the same thing happen quite a few times.. i only wore a pad while in the hospital right after surgery and when walking after taking catheter out.... i used a pantyliner and it helped protect my panties and clothes,... im assuming it's normal... your body "cleaning" itself out....

Barrdogg

I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

A certain amount of discharge can be part of the normal healing process but, if it's "gushing", maybe a call to your doctor would be a good idea ~ if only to put your mind at rest.

Will you let us know what you find out? Sending all good wishes!

Hi,I'm 4wks TLH/RSO.Honestly I would call the doctor ASAP!I went for a check up yesterday..one of the things she asked was If I had any clear fluid coming out!It is normal for spotting, pink, yellowish, brownish, maybe a little red.But I would definently get a hold of your doctor.Take care and let me know how your doing. Re: Gushing discharge ~ is this normal?

At least one sister had fluid gushing out from her vagina and this was peritoneal fluid (normal fluid in the abdomen) coming out of an opened vaginal wound. If you are leaking that much fluid from your abdominal incision, you could have a "seroma" which is an abnormal collection of fluid at your wound site that will prevent healing.

I would call the doctor right away and discuss this.

Call the on-call doctor for your service and possibly get to the ER!

Gushing definitely isn't a good thing.

WHOA! Bandimal, please don't make unsupported statements like "that will prevent healing"!!!

I have a seroma, my doc assures me it is NOT a setback, just happens in some women.

If I had read your post when it first happened, that would be extremely discouraging.

We don't need unnecessary frightening, ok?!

I posted my experience in detail on a thread called SEROMA.

Re: Gushing discharge ~ is this normal?

Hi ladies!! Thanks for the responses. It totally is not the normal healing but could be a few things. Mine turned out to be a prolapsed fallopian tube - yuck. Dr. hadn't seen that since his residency 25 years ago. Only me

Had surgery to repair it on December 18th.
