Just tell your doctor how you feel. I don't think you are going to need to convince him or her. If you are medically not ready to go back to work, I am sure that he or she will give you more time to heal.

Please tell your doctor what's going on with you. If you have no energy now, how can you properly do your job?

Re: not ready to go back to work how do you convince your doctor

Yes tell your doctor what you told us and it should be okay. One thing I did when I went to meet with the specialist is I had documented all of my symptoms and conditions for the past 6 month that had plagued me so I wouldn't get flustered when I was asked why I needed this surgery? If I were asked. I wasn't asked the question but it made me less nervous at the visit and it helped me answer a lot of other questions when offered the surgery that helped me know for sure this was the only option to give my life back. So just review what been going on the last few weeks and make a list of the reasons why you don't think your ready. If your doctor doesn't agree then see another Dr. I will pray for your additional time off and hope you feel better soon.

Re: not ready to go back to work how do you convince your doctor

I needed extra time past the initial leave before returning to work full time because of the pain and low energy. Unfortunately, I was a slow healer and behind the typical recovery timeline. My doctor was not enthusiastic about extending the leave, but I was very clear that the level of pain was getting in the way of working a full 40 hour week. Sitting was particularly painful and that was a big part of my job. I did get the doctor's note for additional leave I needed, but be prepared to explain your symptoms and how they interfere with carrying out your job duties.
