Reluctant to start taking estrogen replacement

I too am reluctant to start taking estrogen replacement. My Dr. prescribed .5mg Estadiol, and suggested that I even take 1/2 a tablet per day to help prevent bone loss.

I am 3 weeks post-op, and fortunately the hot flashes and night sweats have been tolerable.

I have been vigilant in taking Calcium for the past 8 years, and will continue to do so. Does anyone have any information on taking Calcium without estrogen and if this still negatively affects bone density?

Because I have many years before natural menopause would have started, I want to be sure that I am doing the right thing with regard to bone health. Since my menopause symptoms are, as of now, not very severe, I'd like to forego the estrogen if I don't need to take it.
