Bio-Identicle HRT

I had my hysto. 11 months ago. I'm suffering so bad from hot flashes and insommeia and everything else that could go wrong. I do not have my overies.
I went to a doctor and he does Hormone Pellet Therapy. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm really considering this but I don't know of anyone who has done this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Bio-Identicle HRT

Hello!

Are you currently using anything for hormone therapy? What, if any, hormone therapy products have you tried since your surgery?

There are members on this site who use hormone pellets so hopefully they will be along to share their experiences with you. Meanwhile, you can do a search of the hormone forums to find previous threads on the topic. You can read them to get an idea of how others have done on the pellets.

As with any hormone therapy, do your research. If cost is an issue, check into whether or not your insurance will cover the pellets, hormone level testing, doctor visits, etc. Also, understand that once the pellets are inserted they can't be removed. If the dose is too high, you'll have to deal with the symptoms until the pellet dissolves.

My own personal preference is to use bio-identical hormones. There's information about bio-identical hormones and other types of estrogen in the Hormone Jungle Articles. My Vivelle Dot is made by a pharmaceutical company (it's a bio-identical estradiol patch) and I'm also using compounded progesterone and testosterone creams which are made for me at the local compounding pharmacy. I can control the dosing of my hormone therapy and if necessary, I can stop using it completely, though at age 54 my choice is to continue to use it, with my doctor's full approval (not to mention prescriptions! ). I have annual well woman checkups which include a mammogram, breast and pelvic exams, and a vaginal vault smear (Pap). So far, so good!

Good luck with your research! Let us know what you decide to try, okay?

P. S. - It would be very helpful if you would update your profile to include your surgery date. That can be done using this link: Edit Profile. Be sure to click the "Save Changes" link at the bottom of the page after adding the date.

Re: Bio-Identicle HRT

Greetings! I have had 2 implants and am due for my 3rd next week.I tried estradiol pill, patch and the spray, but for some crazy reason my body wouldnt absorb it.I love the results I have gotten from the implant,I haven't felt this good in years and my libido is almost scary..haha. but I must admit i still worry about all the other things that can go wrong .[i] like you had insomnia,fatigue,migrains..the whole gamet.my implants have lasted aprox.5mos each time.Unfortunately my ins.only covered the 1st implant, then they pulled out.Cost around 250$.All in all..I am very happy with the results!I'm soon to be 49yrs and had my hyst.Jan/09 Good luck and God Bless!

Re: Bio-Identicle HRT

Absolutely LOVE mine!!!! I get the estrogen and testostrone pellet. Have had them a year. Love them so much thats why I had the hysterectomy.... Having my uterus I had to take progestrone pills the first 10 days of every month. Those 10 days had headaches, amd pms systems. Plus some months would barely spot. Then first of August started and "flooded" 10 days! Dr. suggested I take the progestrone pills everyday of the month. When I told him that wasnt an option because 10 days wipe me out is when we decided to have the hysterectomy. WASNT going to give up my pellets! ) Night sweats left and have never came back, energy you wouldnt believe and sex is wonderful!!! I get mine about every 4 months. Try them and you will never want to be without them!!!
