1 week. Post hysterectomy and hernia has developed

I tried to get in to my dr but he is on vacation until next week. It appears a lump has developed.about an inch under the incision site. Laying flat it is not seen, standing up it is visible and tender. Anyone have experience with this??

Re: 1wk. Post op and hernia has developed

It could be a hernia or just part of the healing process. I have one small lump that hurts but I think it was there before - just didn't hurt. I think it is a fat cell that us fatter people are prone to. Why it is sore I have no idea.

Hopefully it will be fine until you can have the doctor verify what it is. It is so frustrating when these little things come up that we don't know 'are they big or minor' problems.

Thanks for the response. It bulges out whenever i stand up or strain. I will keep an eye on it until my dr returns from vacation.

Re: 1 week. Post hysterectomy and hernia has developed

I know my doctor said he put a stitch in the left incision where it went through the muscle to prevent a hernia problem. Could be your doctor did not do that.

Thank you for your reply. I talked to dr and he said he would need to see it to determine if it is a hernia and if it needs attention. I wil see him on tuesday.

Re: 1 week. Post hysterectomy and hernia has developed

I had the same thing. It didn't hurt. When I went for my post op surgery I didn't even think to mention it. After he examined me he just said" By the way, the hard lump under your incision is normal and it will go away." It did go away about a month later!
Yours probably will too.
