Anyone else go home w/catheter?

I am exactly one week post-op. Had radical TAH in which they removed uterus, cervix, both ovaries, surrounding tissuse, lymph nodes and the omentum due to specks of what they believe to be the same tumor I originally had on my cervix. I went home with a suprapubic catheter that is the most uncomfortable thing I've ever had to deal with; the pain from the huge incision is secondary to this. I haven't seen a lot of this from anyone else...I have an irrational fear that they will want to leave it in, that there is something wrong with my bladder they're not telling me...I know that is stupid, but I want this thing OUT!

There are several ladies who had the subpubic. I came home with a foley cath which I was miserable with. They wanted my bladder to stay completely empty since I had a knick to my bladder during surgery.

There are several reasons to have a cath, not being able to pee, not emptying all the way, needing to retrain the bladder, the bladder needing to rest. If I were you, I'd place all call to the dr. They should have told you why you have it in. Best wishes!
