Still recovering TAH

Hello.. I recently had a TAH on April 21st. Two weeks later I was having severe right pain under my incision. They done CT scans, Ultra Sound, etc. Found nothing. My Dr recocmended a Laparotomy to see what was going on. She went in the same incision from 4/21 three weeks later on 5/12. The only thing she found was adhesions on my bowel that was stuck to my abdominal wall. Now it has been over a week and my incision will still not heal. It did before she went back in though. I am also not sure if this has even taken care of the pain I was having anyway since it only occurred after walking a bit. Which I cannot do right now till this thing heals up. She told me to let it drain. It has been draining over a week now and still going strong. I have to go see her twice a week for her to check it. Has anyone ever had this problem.. if so please let me know your experieince.

Still recovering TAH

I had a draining area on my hysterectomy incision, called a seroma. It drained clear, straw-colored liquid. I went to my surgeon's office 2-3 times each week until it healed. My draining stopped after 2 weeks, with immediate healing afterwards.

Sounds like your doc is monitoring you carefully. That is comforting to know.

Take care, Princess................s......Deb

Thanks Deb, I just am ready to get better. My drainage is bloody. The incision is about 4-5 inches. It is really becoming a pain.. changing this bandage all the time. Thanks for the support...... Chariot
