Has anyone used this for vuvla burning??? I was prescribed it last week and since starting it the burning is about 100% worse. I kept thinking maybe it needs a few days to start working, but last night I couldn't stand it and didn't apply it.

I was told to stop using lidocaine gel, but I applied some of that and had instant relief and finally got some sleep.

Could I be allergic to it?

Hi I've not used hydrocortisone cream on the vulva, but I know it's one of the recommended treatments for lichen sclerosis. Did your DR mention that as a possible diagnosis for the burning? If you do a search on this site using the term 'lichen sclerosis' you will come up with several threads from members who have had this before.

If you either have lichen sclerosis or are allergic to the hydrocortisone cream, the lidocaine gel doesn't do anything to fix either of those problems, it merely deadens the pain temporarily. I'd recommend talking with your DR in the morning to see if there is an alternative to the hydrocortisone cream if you can't use the one he prescribed.

Thank you. He mentioned contact drematitis. I do not think I have LS. I can't figure why he said no lidocaine. I've read tons online and it seems as though that is a often prescribed line for pain management.

Well, why not ask him? I wonder, though, given that you've posted elsewhere about loss of sensation, that perhaps he's trying to do you a favor, since lidocaine would interfere with that?

IF he had asked about how and why I use lidocaine.....he would have seen it's more for getting through my work day.

ie: I am a professional musician. Today I had a two hr. rehearsal with vocalist. I had to sit on the piano bench for 2 hrs. I had/have such intense burning now. Normally I wouldn't give a second thought to using my lidocaine for that, but today I thought I shouldn't. Made for a difficult time.

I have used it on my vestibule before intercourse, but haven't found it to offer much of a difference. I don't use it anywhere else before sex, so I don't think it's having an effect on that.
I feel confindent that the loss of sensitivity in that area is from the tricylcics.
