For those who recently had a vag hyst

DC4ever
I am still crampy & have pain where the vaginal incision is & also have sharp little pains every now & then. You are not being a big baby by any means, you are not even 3 weeks post op. Take time to heal all that took place inside. Remember you had major surgery.
Try not to think about going back to work. Try and relax, read a book, watch a funny movie (it'll hurt when you laugh), have a cup of tea.

Thank you so much Mayapple. I need to hear that - part of me says get up and stop being a baby and part of me says, like you said, it hasn't even been 3 weeks. I am used to dealing with pain so when it puts me to bed it frustrates me. How is it in Canada? I was born in Vancouver, Washington and it was beautiful. Hope this finds you well and recover well.

DC4ever - Don't even start thinking you are a baby and get over it! We had an organ removed! It takes time, and everyone goes into with different health issues as well that can cause for different healing times. I had to wait until 5 weeks post op to go back to work b/c I knew there was no way I could make it through the day and do my students any justice. Listen to your body and keep on taking good care of yourself!

I'm not sure what my biggest complaint is. I hate not being "well" and not having energy to do the things I usually do. I hate sitting around. I guess not feeling well would be my biggest complaint. I start crying when it hits me that I still have weeks to go for recovery. The pain has been managable, but right around dinner time I start to go downhill and have less energy and more pain then I did earlier in the day. That's frustrating and it feels like I'm moving backwards in recovery.

lovestoshop67 & suzettenicholas, I get those weird shooting pains, but not as often. I would have them off & on before my hysterectomy and when I would try to explain them to others, I would get odd looks. I am hoping that as this area heals these too will be a thing of the past!!! My biggest complaint is now I am starting to have so much energy and can't do the things I had put off before my surgery. I guess it will all wait.

For those who recently had a vag hyst

Well I will be 4 weeks post op tomorrow. TVH with left ovary kept. Biggest problem I have had since surgery was the pain in my hips and my back. I attributed that to the sitting and lying down the first week and a half. I quit taking vicodin two days after surgery and made it thru with ibuprofen. This week I have started doing some things around the house. I even vaccumed yesterday.(probably wasn't suppose to do that but I am not having any major pains or problems). I helped in the yard yesterday and also that was probably not a good thing either but no problems from it. I am still have night sweats and hoping on the 10th Dr will give me something for it. Don't know if I'll go on hormones or not. I leave for Michigan on the 13th for a business trip so I am pushing myself to build my energy up. I was a very active person before surgery and looking at things not being done got under my skin the last few weeks. I am taking things in moderation. I haven't had any trouble sleeping since my surgery so I have been really fortunate with that. I hope everyone continues healing well.
