Things I've learned from Recovery

Stealing the Idea from Fenchurch's (things I wont miss thread)

I've learned that:

A Good BM on a regular basis makes me very very happy. It's just been way to long and I'm anxiously awaiting normalcy

I can take advantage of the initial weight loss and make sure to stay on a good healthy eating regimen and keep the weight off...I HOPE.

I've got a wonderful patient Husband

I've got a good support group of friends in my N'hood.

I've got a high tolerance for pain

Surgery was a breeze! Recovery... a process

It's okay to ask for help and to embrace it

it's okay that my house isn't as clean and tidy to my liking

My cat's wont keel over if the litter box duty has been skipped one day

In my case, not being able to actually pass gas is excruciatingly painful...and once i'm recovered from the intestinal pings I vow to embrace my natural bodily functions that are working properly and be proud of any sounds that I expel.

I can't edit, but I did want to add that I learned that If I tighten my vaginal muscles it really help buffer the pain from sneezing or coughing...I call it the Kegel Coughing technique!

Re: Things I've learned from Recovery

I learned that I can pick up almost anything I drop with my toes...when my grabber is not close at hand.

Re: Things I've learned from Recovery

Love the list! Here's a few of my things learned:

My husband can vacuum the house and scoop litterboxes

My cats do not have to walk across my stomach to get to the other side of the bed, they are perfectly capable of walking around

If my doctor tells me not to do something it's for a reason and I will listen (don't vacuum!)

The people at work will survive without me until I'm well again

Rushing to get back to "normal" only causes setbacks

The most important thing I learned is to love ME. It is not a bad thing that I come first for once!

Re: Things I've learned from Recovery

I've learned that the legs I always thought were really short are far longer after my TAH, especially when I need to shave them!

Also loved the comment about picking things up with toes - my partner laughs at me doing this.

Heal well all!
