Pads

Hi Ladies!

I'm still learning things about the hysterectomy surgery. I keep reading about pads. Now last year I had a Myomectomy but didn't need a pad afterwards. Is there bleeding after the hysterectomy surgery, discharge? What kind of pad is needed (panty liner, overnight pad, etc)?

Thank you for your information. I greatly appreciate.

Re: Pads

Everyone's different. I had a little spotting the day of my surgery, and no bleeding at all since then. It seems that many of the women who post on here do have some spotting/bleeding. If you don't have any at home now, maybe buy one package of pads and one of pantiliners, to have on hand.

Re: Pads

I bought 1 small package of pads, but only needed to use them for about 3-4 days. I have been using only panty liners for light discharge ever since. Everyone is different and I just wanted to be prepared.

Re: Pads

I didn't use any pads. No bleeding. Just a little pink after wiping but no flow.

Re: Pads

I had a pad when I woke from surgery, just a spot of discharge. I haven't had anything since. After reading all the posts here about discharge post op, I just kept what I had before surgery in case. I am 21 days out now, they are going to my daughter tomorrow when she comes over for Christmas! Good luck!

Re: Pads

I had a pad the 1 night I was at the hospital and used panty liners for a couple days after that, but wouldn't have needed them. It was more of a just in case thing for me. good luck!

Re: Pads

Everyone is different on this.

I had a TAH BSO. I was told to expect, and did experience, discharge for six weeks post-op (UGH!). There was a small amount of blood for the first few days (like period spotting), and then had a fair amoung of waxy and clear discharge. I used those ultra-thin maxi pads and changed twice a day.
