Getting quite nervous
I'm headed to the castle on Monday & I'm nervous. I've prepared my recovery room, have family to support my recovery & taken care of necessary things. Now, I'm just waiting. The part that has me so nervous is waking up after the surgery. I hate that feeling (this is my 7th surgery in my 32 years of life). And, this is also my third surgery in a year (had two hip surgeries). I'm worried about the trauma of so many surgeries in a short time. Trying to not let my worries get the best of me.

Re: Getting quite nervous
I know it's hard to do, but try to relax. I'm sure that everything will be fine. My surgery is the day after yours ... We will both be okay. We can do this! And we'll feel like a million bucks once we're back on our feet.

Re: Getting quite nervous
I know it's easier said than done but try to stay calm and think about the benefits you will gain. I too am super nervous and I have almost two weeks to go.
It sounds like you have done everything right by preparing ahead of time so you have some time to relax. Start a book that you'll be excited to finish after your surgery so you have something to look forward too doing afterwards.
It's not going to be easy to relax and I can understand what you are going through right now, I feel it too. Just do your best and call a friend to help you through this. I had dinner with my three best friends last night and it was just nice to take my mind off things and to know that I have someone available who understands.
We even enjoyed a good laugh when one of my friends said they want the surgery too (they may need it eventually) just so they could have the time off to relax and I reminded them about the "no sex for 6 weeks" which resulted in a reposnse of "well in that case, I'll pass".
Keep your mind on the outcome instead of the surgery and this may help ease your worries at least a bit.
Good luck on Monday, I'll be thinking of you and I hope and trust that everything will go well.

Re: Getting quite nervous
Thank you both! I always get nervous before surgery. This one feels different, since I found out I was having it on Tuesday, so had less than a week to prepare. And, I'm not married, so I don't know what I will say when I do meet my future husband. But, I did have a great conversation with close friend last night which did help.

Re: Getting quite nervous
You don't have to say anything at all to anyone until you are ready. As cliche as it sounds it is what it is and you have nothing to explain when are doing what is best for you.
You're going to do great, keep us posted.

Re: Getting quite nervous
When you're ready you'll tell your future Husband that you can't have any children because you had a Hysterectomy. If he can't understand that, and if that makes him not love you ... he's NOT the right man for you.

Re: Getting quite nervous
Erin i only had 4 days to prepare and i think we are luckier because we have so much less time to get stressed! Worry about getting better first .. THEN you can start worrying about finding and telling a future husband. ! Not everyone wants to have kids nowadays so you may very well find a man that is quite happy not to, or others that are willing to adopt. Hang on there!!
