Non-stop exhaustion?

I've read a lot of ladies have so many problems with exhaustion with fibroids, but all of the ones I've read it's because of being anemic or having heavy bleeding. If anything my cycles have been a lot LIGHTER than normal (which is really weird) although painful, but I'm non-stop exhausted. I just want to sleep all the time. I've been feeling this way for months. Is this normal?? I keep telling myself it's just because I work full time and always on the go with kiddo playing hockey and keeping up with household stuff...but I've been doing that for years and haven't felt this tired all the time. I get nervous that this is just all in my head because i know that thing is in there, some days i feel next to normal, and other days I feel bloated and uncomfortable and back pain and pressure. Ugh! Am I just nuts?

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

I feel exactly as you do! Some days i wonder if it's in my head. When i don't have my P to remind me whats happening.....I often think I am being dramatic. I think we just put so much pressure on ourselves to do it all, and try to down play whats going on. I know I do this.

I think it's important to rem. the exhaustion is a symptom of something bigger which we can't ignore.

I know i do suffer from severe anemia due to heavy P from the fibroids.. I am so tired all the time and get mad at myself. I feel like at 45 i should have so much more energy but all i want is sleep. Some times my back & thighs ache so much and when i walk it feels like i have lead in my legs. I never really stopped and associated what I am feeling with whats happening on the inside......Like i said I just get annoyed with myself.

I guess its time I realized there's a small war going on inside and until it ends this is my " normal". It's the whole reason for the surgery in first place right?

I just wanted to say I completely understand what your feeling Hang in there

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

I'm tired all the time too. I was anemic from all the bleeding, but that's under control now. I'm not as tired as I was but I'm still more tired than I think I should be. I still could sleep a goid chunk of the day no problem

Otherwise, I've been eating well/healthy and excersizing so I don't think the tiredness is from a lifestyle choice.

Sorry your feeling tired.

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

I too feel tired all the time. I could take a nap a half hour after getting out of bed in the morning. I have always blamed it on getting older, being overweight, work schedule...almost anything. I've lived with these fibroids so long it's become a way of life and I never even thought they might be the culprit of the exhaustion I feel daily. Feeling tired, the leg pains when I sleep on my side and lead legs when I am walking around all could be related to the fibroids from what I've been reading.

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

I have an upcoming TAH hysterectomy November 30th for large fibroids. I also feel completely exhausted all the time. My iron level changes depending on how much bleeding I have during the month and it has been low but I haven't been considered anemic in about a year now. I am only 30 and my youngest is 7 so I am not running around after little ones all day but I am still feel so run down. I am praying my surgery will change this.

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

My huge fibroids were not accompanied with bleeding or anemia yet I too was tired all the time. In my case, I "was minding my own business" and just had no idea what was going on with my body - I too assumed it was my schedule and stress in general. I was shocked to find out through a routine well woman exam that my uterus was enlarged and my fibroids were twisted and pressing in my organs.

So ALWAYS listen to your own body signals. Never doubt yourself when you just don't feel right.

Ask questions of your doctor and know all your options for now and in the future.

Hugs and best of luck to all on your upcoming surgery.

Re: Non-stop exhaustion?

I totally agree, ladies. I, too suffer from a large fibroid and have not been my energetic self.
Although I don't have heavy periods, nor am I anemic, I feel tired and fatigued most of the time, and can relate to the heavy feeling in the legs. My surgeon told me the fibroid can put pressure on blood vessels, hence the 'tired' feeling in the legs. Plus it puts pressure on the back and other internal organs ( depending on the location).
You are not being dramatic, I think, too, our bodies are telling us something and I hope surgery will make us feel better:-)

Hugs,
Sunny
