New, feeling nervous

I am booked in on 17th November to have an ovary and the uteris removed. I will be 47 on the day after my surgery. I have had severe menorrhagia causing anaemia. The scan showed a large ovarian cyst which put me on the urgent list for surgery.

I believe they will try laproscoptomy and then if it is too big to come out they will open me up. They say I will need a transfusion before my surgery.
My last couple of periods haven't been quite so bad, and I feel a bit better now as I guess I must have made up some blood count. I have become "crampy" for the last few weeks even between periods though, and I guess I am sitting on a time bomb for the next nightmare period.

I guess I am looking for some reassurance that what I am about to go through is necessary.

It sounds like you're still a bit unsure of your decision. It that's true, maybe you should take a little more time and research all your options. Have you had more than one opinion? If not, that might be a good place to start.

If you're really sure that it is the right decision but are just stressed and nervous - I can relate to that! It was a very stressful and emotional decision for myself too.

Best wishes, I'll be praying that all works out well for you.

Did I decide?

Well, actually I'm not sure if I decided, so much as just accepted that something needed to be done, and that if the doctors decided that after examining me, then it must be necessary, especially since they are treating me with urgency.
On the letter that stated my surgery date, they did say more information was coming about two weeks before I go in, but will have to wait and see, it maybe just what I need to take in.
Most of what I have learned has been from others, and I feel the doctors have left me a little uninformed, am I supposed to learn more at my pre-op?
