No hysteroctomy for prolapse

Hello All;

Well, I went for that third opinion. This Dr was a gyn/oncologist. He was a highly recommended surgeon. He said I did have a prolapse but most of my problems were from my bladder. He said if that is repaired, then I will get relief from my symptoms. I couldn't figure out how taking out the uterus (Cutting ligm and suturing) would help with prolapse. What is Vag attached to? Also all the problems with hormones. So I read recovery is same and I may need more surgery later. But Dr wants to keep my Uterus and repair vaginal area. Thanks to everyone for this site!

No hysteroctomy for prolapse

Hi That's great news! Sometimes the bladder is the primary thing responsible for the problem, and if things haven't gone too far yet, tying everything up, particularly if you are careful to get on some HRT as soon as you start perimenopause (since low estrogen levels allow the ligaments holding everything up to relax, which you don't want) can solve your problem... or at least potentially buy you quite a few years.

You asked about what the vagina is attached to... at this link, if you scroll down the page, there is a description of where all the ligaments are attached:

You may want to check out some of the prolapse sites to see if they have support boards like this one... UPRISE is one I've heard good things about:

Good luck with your repair surgery!

s,
