PMS-Like Cramping
I had a TAH/BSO on Nov. 7 (a day or two before I was supposed to start my period). The past couple of days, I have been experiencing cramps and pelvic muscle tightness similar to if I were getting ready to start. As mentioned above, I no longer have ovaries so I don't know what might be causing the PMS-like cramping. Anyone else have this experience? Appreciate any help.

Strange cramps
I only had one ovary removed during my first surgery. The surgery was on day 2 of my period (figured my body had to get in the last laugh!). I kept my right ovary, but did have similar cramping to what you describe. It was out of synch with my cycle and lasted about 3 weeks. I was also feeling an ache up to my kidney and bladder spasms. None of it made any sense to me. My doctor said that there are nerves that get irritated that can produce all kinds of mimicking sensations. It did finally subside, but I was sleeping with a heating pad every night for several weeks. It has been an adventure of strange feelings, but they did go away! Don't ignore, but don't panic either - your body is going through a lot.

PMS-Like Cramping
Both overies are gone and I felt the same thing, this is the time for my 2nd missed period, (hm do I miss it?) anyways, I dont feel that cramping, but I do "feel" like I should start, hard to explain, but in my mind, its time and I am waiting and watching.......for nothing! Very strange, I am not use to it yet. People tell me how nice it is to not have one, but I havent got use to it yet.

Rocky, do you still have a cervix? Some women who keep cervix can experience period like symptoms and even small periods. Do talk to your doc about it. I had a total hysterectomy and I feel that pressure sometimes too, like im going to start.. but I just chalked it up to still healing inside, another part of being uncomfortable! Sometimes I find myself wondering if it really ever ends

Moonflower, I have wondered that too sometimes. All these ladies telling me it's the best to not have to have periods and cramps, but I just havent got there yet. I keep looking for my period! I "feel" like I am ready to start.

Moonflower, I do not have my cervix. The cramping seems to be mostly in the morning. I, too, keep thinking that I should start or something. Then I remember that I just had a hysterectomy and I smile because I will never have another period. Woo Hoo!

Sorry I can't help you. But I can let you know you are not alone.
I do NOT have my cervix and I too still get cramping. Even look at the tissue to be sure there is not blood on it.
I have my ovaries but they are not working (just started some estrogen yesterday) so I don't think it is hormones doing it to me either.
I just keep putting it off to healing.
The putuitary gland in our head is a funny little thing as well. It is like a hormone releasing factory pumping out all sorts of chemical messengers to so many parts of our bodies. And we really don't know all that much about it. (we such wonderful, awestriking, humans).... anyway, who knows what is going on up there....
My doc has told me as long as there is no blood, no fever, no INTENSE pain, do discharge that smells, then the cramps are just a healing thing.

PMS-Like Cramping
Oh I am so glad I found this thread!! This past week I too had cramping, and was wondering why. The uterus is obviously gone as is my cervix. I did keep my ovaries, but I don't understand why they would hurt. I'm glad I'm not alone!!
