TVH and cant stand up straight from the gas and bloating

I had my TVH done on 12/09/09 What a relief when i woke up from the surgery and no sharp pains just a lil sting when i urinated.. stayed on the percocet for 3 days ..then came the Gas and BMs from HELL.
Its day 15 i still cant stand up straight from the gas and bloating. I have taken milkofmag stoolsofteners and Suppositorys to get my bowels to move sometimes it works sometimes it dont but the pain is almost unbearable .. Im wondering should i tell my doctor about this or get used to using the bathroom standing up?

Just to share what my nurse told me - she said that, if after a few days, I am having pain to the point that I can not stand up straight, to make sure and call, as that is a pretty good sign that there is an infection. You mentioned that you can not stand up straight with out pain - if it were me, I would call and let the doctor know. Also, let them know that you are having such a hard time going to the bathroom, and with gas - you should not have to still be dealing with it being that bad!

I am so sorry for your pain, but do not suffer quietly - be our own best advocate.

I am with you Ryushie........bowel problem is driving me crazy........ like you have taken just about everything but it works when it wants The Gas pains are shocking argghhh I got to sit on the loo just to pass that....

Try peppermint tea or eating peppermints before and after eating - helps a little with the gas. My issues were HELL and did stop around 2.5-3 weeks post op. I'm 6 weeks, 1 day post-op now and feel much better.

Those first weeks I wanted to die rather than go to the washroom tho - so I totally know how you feel. Chin up.

I had the same issue with Gas... Symethicone (GasX) was my lifesaver. I was counting the hours in the hospital between the doses, much more so than I was waiting for the painkillers!
Make sure you get some at home, it's wonderful!
Not to scare you, but my bleeding started because of too much gas and no bm initially - and it was terrible.
I asked my doctor and he confirmed that the gas can actually hurt the stitching on the inside...
