depressed after hyster

I AM SO DEPRESSED!!! i dont know if the hyster had anything to do with it, i was on lexapro before my hyster, 10 mg. immediately after i was ok, but the more i started moving around the worse it got. i am now on 20 mg, and it seems to just keep getting worse. the weather is just breaking in my area, i hope some of it has to do with being couped up and not being able to get out of the house, i havent regained my normal activity level, which really bothers me. i feel so down, i cry all the time, i feel unhappy with my dh, i feel just terrible about my whole life. i dont have the hormone problem, i have my ovaries....if anyone can give me some advice, any answers as to why this is happeneing to me, any input whatsoever, i would greatly appreciate it. i am just not myself, and i hate who i am right now.

You can still be having a hormone imbalance because sometimes after surgery the ovaries can go into shock and it can cause a few months of menopause symptoms. Usually by month 3 they kick back in but it takes some time to build up enough hormones to get back to normal. I hope thats all it is for you. You can always have your hormone levels checked just to be sure. I know how you are feeling cuz I am feeling much the same way tho for me its just the crying thing. Last night one of my cats scratched me when I was feeling her stomach to make sure it she was okay and I just started boo hoo'ing over that. Every little thing just sets me off and makes me cry. It really makes me feel unlike myself. I can not take any hormones cuz I had breast cancer. So I am just taking it one day at a time and hoping it will get better soon. I do wish you the best.

I am so sorry you are feeling so sad. I think a lot of us after surgery seem to cry a lot more. I would call the dr and ask about getting your hormone levels checked. Sometimes even with keeping your ovaries you could still be going into menapause. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry you're so down. I agree with what has been shared already. It really could be hormonal, at least in part, and you need to make sure your dr knows that the Lexapro isn't working for you and ask him/her to test your hormone levels.
Do you have any kind of an exercise program you're doing right now? If nothing else you need to be getting out and walking in a mall. My dh has been suffering with some depression and the dr has him walking twice a day for at least 30 min. It has really helped.
Keep looking for your answers and don't give up. I hope you'll be feeling better soon. Keep us posted on your progress.

I am so sorry you are depressed. I am too and kept one ovary. I have been having headache, sore breasts, weight gain and a huge swelly belly, crying...I asked my Dr and she said it could take up to 6 months and would like me to wait it out to see if I "come out of it" She says it is very common after this surgery. I have been having panic attacks too so I have some Xanax that I have had for years and take that at night sometimes. I have been taken Tylenol PM to help me sleep at night, I also have allergies so that helps with that too. I didn't know that I was going to have all of these problems after...I mean that is why I kept an ovary. I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I didn't have any. My Dr did suggest exercise too. She said the release of endorphins helps. My thought was if I wasn't so depressed I might be able to get off the couch to exercise. But I do agree with you, I think once the weather breaks it is gonna help. I hope this helps.
