Re: 9 days post hysterectomy: Surgical tape reaction

My incisions are still healing and actually two of them the stitches popped out. I was told at my post op that this was normal and they will dissolve. I still have signs of redness and aching and was also told that they looked great and not to worry.
I definitely feel your pain and hope you continue on the right path of healing.

Debetable70, how long did it take for the pain to dissipate, or for the burning to go away?

I see you had your surgery 10 days before I did. Do you think the burning and pain we're experiencing is from internal stitches and not the surgical tape?

Are you pain free now?

The burning pain was just recovery period. Not from the tape or internal stitches. The rash and pain from the allergic reaction had gone. Now I have redness still from that. That part takes forever to clear. Think it was just the nerves waking up. I had to tuck an abdominal pad over my incision b/c any rubbing of clothes was like fire. Now it's quite minor and only on one side below my incision. At first there was no pain like that, then at about 2 weeks that burning pain started, now dissipating. I'm numb between my pubic bone and incision for about 6 inches across and a small patch above my incision on my left and right for about 2 inches yet that skin still burned.

Re: 9 days post hysterectomy: Surgical tape reaction

Hi there just wanted to add that I had some sort of rash all across my midriff and thought it was from whatever they used to disinfect the skin prior to surgery and the only thing that helped me was putting ice in a bag on it It was very itchy and took about two weeks to subside. In fact 9 months on and my skin is still discoloured in that area as if its done something to the pigmintation .Best wishes Jibby p xxx

Ok, good to know, I must be in the home stretch now.

I couldn't possibly imagine trying to put jeans on at this point. The only thing I can manage is yoga pants and soft stretchy capri pants.
