Is this really happening?
I start my cleanse tomorrow and go to pre-op. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday at 1:00. I can't believe this is going to happen. I have been spotting for the last few days, and look forward to that being gone but I am afraid.
I feel so guilty about not exercising for the last few days. I know I should have but I just haven't felt like it. To add to the stress of the surgery I had to put my cat of 15 years to sleep last Tuesday. She had cancer. Yesterday I went and adopted a new kitty to have something to come home to. Big mistake. She is sweet, but she isn't my loving Baby. It is unfair to expect her to be, but I am scared and lonely. This leads to the fear of being alone forever.
Sorry for this depressing blah, blah, blah. I just needed to get it out.

Re: Is this really happening?
I am scheduling my surgery tomorrow for Nov 11. I cried a lot this weekend, emotions and horomones going crazy I guess. I had 4 kitties and had to put one to sleep a month ago. Something I've learned about my kitties is they might all be different and have different personalities, but they all love to be around me. I feel that your new little one will warm up soon and show you love albeit might not be exact like your other furbaby. I am looking forward to my kitties being around me when I go through my surgery.
<hugs>

Re: Is this really happening?
Sorry about the passing of your cat. I know how much companionship they can give. Congratulations on your new kitten! I am sure once you get used to each other, you will love her.
It's so normal to be scared of this surgery. I was too. I am now 11 weeks out from it and can look back. You know what? Yes, it hurts. Yes, you will be too week to do anything for a long while. But from my side of the event, I am glad to be past it and to be able to move on. I know it's hard to look at that from where you are at, so just try to settle for taking one day at a time for now. You can get through today. That's all you have to do right now.
Don't feel guilty about exercise! Another couple of workouts are not going to make any difference at this point. Just take care of what you need to get done now. You will be through this before you know it.

Re: Is this really happening?
My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved cat. What a tough thing to go through, especially on top of everything else. I'm sure the new kitten and you will be cuddled up together in no time.
I had my surgery this past Wednesday and I'm well on the way to recovery. I was lucky enough to have a DaVinci procedure.
One thing I discovered was that the dreaded "bowel prep" wasn't nearly as terrible as I'd heard. I had no abdominal cramping. I would suggest taking a book or magazine into the bathroom with you.
For me the worst pre-op part was having to be at the hospital at 6:00 a.m. Ugh! If you have someone who can stay with you until you go into surgery and who can be there afterwards, it will make a huge difference.
After surgery, don't try to "tough it out" -- let the nursing staff help you manage any pain you have. Do pamper yourself as much as you need to.
I ended up in the hospital an extra day (2 vs 1) because I had a bad drug reaction (I'm allergic to demerol -- who knew???). On the 2nd post-op day, my doctor came in and told me that that day would be the absolute worst I would feel and from there on it would get better. She was right!
I had my surgery on Wednesday (9/9), it's now Sunday evening and while I won't be running any marathons, I have only a bit of discomfort when I stretch wrong.
You will, I'm sure, do just fine.

Thank you all so much for your support. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to be able to talk with others in this situation. Bobbeleh, I absolutely will let the nurses take care of me!

Re: Is this really happening?
You will also nap a lot!!! Give in to it. You're body is going to be royally po'd at what is done to it, so you need to mollify and coddle it as much as you can! And the good news is that you only have to go through this once! I'm kind of chuckling at myself now -- my anxieties were real, so was my discomfort.... but it's over now and it only gets better. I think one of the best post-op moments I had was getting home with my beloved 11-yo dog and having her with me on the bed and she just rolled and rolled -- she was so happy to be home with mom (I live alone, so she had to be boarded, poor baby).
I'll really be looking forward to hearing from you again once you're surgery is behind you.
