Hyst for adenomyosis

Best of luck, Julie! January 13th will be here before you know it. I'm sorry to hear how much you are suffering right now and I know that it will be tough to get through the holidays. Keep focused on a positive outcome. It will be soooo worth it to get your life back!

Hyst for adenomyosis

I am scheduled 12/19 for a TVH because of adeno. I couldn't work my schedule for any other time. I am in NC and UNC has a pain clinic that has done some things with trigger point injections specifically for pelvic pain. I was looking for some alternative to surgery and my gyn referred me here as an option. This wasn't a long term solution for me but it has bought me some time as far as being able to have some pain control until surgery. (I still have all the yucky constant bleeding but I can control the pain with a heating pad and some Motrin to the point where I can function).

It was my impression when I talked w/the UNC docs that this was not very common (they are one of the few pelvic pain clinics) but they considered it a viable method of pain control. I haven't seen much about this on the web but for me, it has made the difference between being miserable and functional until my surgery.

Hyst for adenomyosis

Rboraski, we share a surgery date!

I, too, am scheduled for December 19 for a TVH. The original reasoning was pain, anovulatory bleeding, and migraines that get worse with hormone treatment (ie when they put me on the pill to control the other symptoms, it made the migraines worse!)

At my ultrasound appointment last Friday, decided I also have probable adenomyosis and PCOS. Reading up on the two, it answers a lot of questions about how I have felt/dealt with periods for the last 20 years!

I talked to women at work today (older than me) who all had Hysts and they all said it was the best decision they'd made and they didn't regret it one bit. I'm starting to think I've been in pain for so long I won't know what it's like to NOT be! Here I am 2 weeks past a period and STILL cramping. I am crampy 80-90% of the time. I just thought EVERYONE was as aware of their uterus as I was, since it's always been this way.
