What is causing my swelly belly?

Good morning,

I have seen many of you writing about this thing swelly belly. I am just under post op 3 weeks. Sure enough my tummy is round. I've lost a few pounds so I know it is not "over eating". What causes this? What helps it, anything? Should I be eating certain foods or not?

"Swelly Belly" isn't caused by gaining weight. It's likely a response to the trauma of surgery, much like the way an ankle will swell when you've injured it. It's possible that bloating from things we eat or from being 'gassy' may contribute, but that isn't the main cause. The only thing I've found that makes mine go down is to rest.
