Please Help!

Good morning sisters. I am hoping that someone can help me here, as I am scared.

I am almost 4 months post-op and have had a few of the usual menopausal symptoms - hot flashes, nervousness, fatigue at times, itching, but I've had a constant headache now for over a week and it is starting to concern me. I just saw my ear, nose, and throat doctor this past Tuesday for my bi-weekly cleaning (I had sinus cancer twice and have been in remission for 4 years) and he didn't seem concerned. He thought it might be a menopausal thing, since I am not on any type of HRT, nor do I want to be because of the risk and symptoms.

Has anyone else experienced these headaches? They aren't severe or anything, but just a constant dull ache.

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Marianne

Please Help!

By any chance have you quit, or lowered your caffeine intake?

That can cause headaches for about this long. Almost like 'drying out' from booze, or drugs.

Other than that I have no clue????Hope you find out soon, or they just go away.

Please Help!

Thanks for replying. I don't drink many caffeinated products and haven't for many years, but I've been drinking iced tea a lot for the past few weeks and that may be the culprit. I also have stuffy ears now and that could be my allergies acting up, but because of the sinus cancer, I'm not allowed to take allergy meds. The headache wasn't bad at all today, but has come back tonight. I read on the net that one of the after effects of a hysterectomy is sometimes nagging headaches. It is just so frustrating as I was feeling so well up until this point.

Please Help!

Hi, I have been having some daily headaches too and I am not on HRT. I do think it might be hormonal. It is a dull ache nothing totally severe just annoying. I am not one to get frequent headaches usually. So I hope yours do go away soon! Tiffany

headache

Hello,
My name is Lisa and I am 18 days post-op. I am a teacher now, but I was formerly a Paramedic. Any headache that lasts a week should never be "brushed off" by a physician. It could be nothing, but I'd rather err on the side of caution. I'd suggest MRI or CAT scan, ruling out the worst and making sure there's no plaque in the carotid arteries or small bleed in the brain. Both can be fixed, but you sort of have to demand service. I also think that if your doctor is ignoring your symptoms, or writing them off to sinuses or menopause, you might need to find a new doctor. I would say if the headache continues even one more day to even go to the Emergency Room, where their course of action will be the CAT scan, which can be very revealing. Then if it turns out well, you'll know it was nothing, but definitely don't ignore it, IMHO. Good luck!
