History of rectal prolapse and hemorrhoids....

sorry about these gross details but I'm worried (and truth is most of any of this isn't very pretty anyway)....I had rectal prolapse as a child (around 10) and have had hemorrhoids throughout my life.....I hate to ask this question but any possibility that the severe constipation following the surgery (related to pain killers) might cause another prolapse? Also, will I be able to "wipe" after a BM as thoroughly as I usually do following the surgery? Should I be asking this question in the post-op page?

the best things i found to help were philips stool softeners, they soften everything so it comes out easily and painlessly. i have hemorrhoids too, and i quit taking the stool softeners and regretted it about 2 days ago...i'm still sore!!! also try eating Activia yogurt...

Marisol-stool softeners are a must. easy diet will help as well. and above all, don't STRAIN once you feel the need to go. Unfortunately that need to go may be around for a few days (it was 5 or 6 for me) before anything actually happens and sitting on your princess throne will not speed anything up so don't even try it.
Other methods to get things moving-raisin bran, wheat chex, prune juice (I had to resort to that at one point after having only one tiny bm in 10 days about 3 weeks post op).
"Wiping" will be somewhat cumbersome depending on your balance, your swelling, etc but I might recommend some pre-moistened wipes just to help. Heck I couldn't put my legs together when on my throne for about 2 weeks-I felt like a guy, lol.
