Belly blisters?

I removed the steri stips off my incision this am. The doctor put them on after she removed my staples. I found several blisters formed under them. I also had them eariler under the support laces that the doc glued to my tummy. I had no allergies before to this kind of stuff before. What gives? Anyone else get them?

Belly blisters?

It could very well be an irritation from the adhesive. Sensitivities can show up at any point, and just because you haven't had problems with something before, doesn't mean you won't become sensitive to it later on. I've seen it on many patients, and we have to switch what kinds of tape and such we used on them. Best wishes with your recovery!

Belly blisters?

I also ended up with many huge blisters - everywhere the tape had been. My doc said it appeared that I was allergic to silk tape and to be sure no one ever used it on me again!! I'd never had trouble with it before, but then again, I don't know if I'd ever had it before.

They told me to let them "air out" as much as possible. They finally broke and were nice and oozy (gross!!!), now they are just red patches that look like I was burned and itch like crazy!

I'm so sorry you're going through this - it isn't any fun - but it does pass!!!

Good luck!

Belly blisters?

Going in to surgery, they made notes everywhere that I'm sensitive to adhesive tapes. I didn't even think about challenging the steri-strips. Yep, I got blisters under the steri-strips. The scabbing and redness from the steri-strips made my actual incision look tame by comparison. It took about 9 days for the wounds from the steri-strips to clear up entirely. Basic care - clean, dry, open to the air.

Belly blisters?

I had this as well. I had a hard time keeping the Steri-Strips on, but on the ones that managed to stay stuck, I developed itchy red blisters. Doc told me to remove the strips and keep the area clean and dry.
